Beach, reef & a relaxed pace
Diani’s reef sits close enough to shore to make snorkeling and diving accessible without a long boat ride, and the beach itself is wide and shaded by palm trees for most of its length. It’s built up enough for a good choice of resorts, but calmer than Mombasa’s city center.
Beyond the beach
Snorkeling and diving on the reef, kite surfing when conditions allow, dolphin-watching boat trips, and day excursions to the Shimba Hills or Wasini Island for marine park snorkeling are the main add-ons beyond simply relaxing on the sand.
From Mombasa & Nairobi
Diani is roughly an hour south of Mombasa, reached by road and a short ferry or bridge crossing depending on route. From Nairobi, most visitors fly into Mombasa or Diani’s own small airstrip, then transfer by road.
Best time to visit
December to March and July to October are the driest, sunniest windows. April to June brings the region’s heaviest rains, with some resorts offering lower rates during this quieter period.
